Councillor (for Thornhill)
Dorothea Kleine
Bamford and Thornhill is a great place to live. My partner and I moved to Thornhill in 2017 and love it here. I work at the University of Sheffield as a geographer and do research in different parts of the world. I have training in community participation, project management, facilitation and mediation and like engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
I enjoy being outdoors, walking, growing things, as well as theatre, music gigs, and particularly community-run music sessions. I am part of the group setting up the allotments in Bamford and I always enjoy spending time in the Anglers. I have a strange enjoyment of pub quizzes but I rarely win.
Born in the UK, I grew up in Munich and have lived in the UK since 2003. I enjoy travel and believe we can learn from other places as well as being a welcoming place to a diversity of visitors. At the same time more can be done to promote respectful engagement with the environment and local communities. Bamford and Thornhill is a beautiful place, with a great community feel, and fantastic potential. Like many villages it relies on people getting involved and helping out to get things done, and this is what motivates me to be on the Parish Council.
