I have lived in Bamford with my family since 2016, having moved from Manchester, although I grew up in Derbyshire. I value the space, beauty and closeness to nature that living in Bamford offers and am keen to play a positive role within the life of the village.
I see my position on the Parish Council as an opportunity to benefit the wider community through representing the issues and concerns of others.
I moved to the village 10 years ago, originally from Essex; I worked as a nurse in Sheffield before retraining as a lawyer. I have been involved with various village initiatives and most recently Hope Valley Climate Action. I believe that climate change and the biodiversity crisis is the biggest threat to the world and humanity for this reason I try to minimise my carbon footprint as much as I can and I am a member of the Green Party. I recognise my role on the Parish Council is apolitical, nevertheless I believe Parish Councillors should be transparent about their political affiliations.
I grew up in Baslow, then moved away for university/travel/work. My wife Charlie is from Hathersage. We moved to Bamford in 2018 because we wanted our two boys to have a Hope Valley childhood.
I run my own business as the UK export partner for a German educational supplies company. You’ll see me on the school run most days with Robin and part of my week is spent on adventures with our youngest Rex. We try to make the most of living here - Robin is a regular at the local climbing wall, Rex is a regular at The Anglers for a chocolatey babyccino… I’ve got into fell/trail running and love to use it as a way to explore the surrounding countryside.
It is a privilege to live here and we absolutely love it. We hope to stay forever so I want to do what I can to contribute to the community.
